profile
I have been operating recording facilities in Austin, Texas since 1998 and have had the honor of collaborating on nearly 400 albums in that time with thousands of artists, many of whom I am proud to now call friends. In addition to production I have also contributed to dozens of projects as a guitarist, keyboardist, bassist, drummer and general noise maker, occasionally even playing something kinda cool. Never imitated and often ignored, I am still producing and recording at a relaxed rate while operating a creative incubation cooperative. I consider the psychology of the recording session my primary instrument, as well as the skill I have worked the hardest to hone. Through the years I have drawn inspiration from the production efforts of folks like Dave Allen, Eddie Kramer, Geoff Emerick, Glyn Johns, Steve Albini and Kevin Shields. As I look back at a staggering 50,000+ hours behind the glass I am amazed thinking of how fast time flies when you're in session for a decade. - david

jacketweather
some may remember the public studio... but things have changed quite a bit at jacketweather. the facility currently hosts artists who lease the space and have arranged a fair use agreement between eachother. this allows the bands to take a more relaxed approach to writing, rehearsing and recording (12 months + ) while also having the ability to nest with a producer in a fairly unique way. If this experiment is something you think might benefit your band in the future, email me to start the application process.
